Lived Experience Accredited Facilitator & Speaker Programme

Delivery 

This is an interactive and engaging programme, facilitated by an experienced Lived Experience Trainer.  You will have opportunities to practice sharing your story, gaining peer and Trainer feedback. You will have the opportunity to facilitate peer presentations.

Course Outline  

Co-designed by lived experience experts and education professionals, this programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge to confidently share your story.   You will learn about boundaries, for yourself and your audience; explore presentation methods; and learn the art of facilitation.  Upon successful completion, you will receive a Lived Experience Speaker and Facilitation Certificate from the Association for Accredited Learning.

Unit 1: Lived Experience Speaking

Know how to structure content to meet the audience’s needs, whilst keeping your story at the heart of the speech.

Understand the importance of confidentiality agreements for you and the audience.

Know how to share your lived experience in a safe and supportive environment, respecting boundaries.

Be able to confidently present to a group, through practical delivery.

Unit 2: Lived Experience Facilitation

Understand the role of the Facilitator

Be able to facilitate a group, managing audience expectations and boundaries.

Know how to signpost to services.

Assessment

To gain accreditation from the Association for Accredited Learning, you will be observed by your Peers and Trainer on Day 3 to deliver a short presentation on a topic of your choice.  You will receive feedback on the day, followed up by written feedback for you to reflect upon.

You will also complete a reflective workbook discussing how you will apply new skills and knowledge.

FAQs

I do not have personal ‘lived experience’, but I was close to someone who did. Can I still apply? 

If you an ‘affected other’, yes you can as being close to someone who experienced something traumatic is your lived experience, just from a different perspective.

Do you provide discounts? 

The full cost is €400 per delegate including programme materials and certification.

How many people are enrolled onto the course?

4 – 6 per cohort. This allows for enriching discussions and interactions for all.

I cannot attend this date, will you be running the course again? 

Yes, the course runs throughout the year.  If you would like to arrange training for your organisation, please get in touch.

My employer is interested in the course. Do you deliver in-house? 

Yes, provided there are at least 4 delegates.
